Mirepoix, an arcade detail
Mirepoix is a nice town with a well-preserved medieval square consisting of frame-houses. Ends of wooden beams that hold upper levels of houses are often emblazoned with fantastic motifs. The city is mentioned sice 10th century, it's recent appearance is however a result of a catastrophic flood at 1279, which carried away the old Cathar settlement in property of one of northern catholic conquerors.
