"Disgustie" - a fungus on the floor of one adit
My gumboots were already wet inside and water reached almost to my waist, but I waded forward until a muddy but still solid floor has risen above the water level. Even there, in eternal darkness at the end of long, unaccessibly-looking adit, grew white fungi feeding upon remains of wooden lining and microscopic particles brought to them by the stream.
