In an abandoned house by an air shaft

On the village's edge, in an area, where inhabited part of the region verges to undermined plain covered by high grass and reed and cut-through only by an asphalt road, stay mine buildings and air shaft headstock belonging to a nearby coal mine. There is light inside and strange-tasting underground air  flows with loud humming from a large metal tube, but no one lives there. Everything is automated and neighboring buildings already abandoned. There is mess inside, empty bottles, leaflets from a calendar, shards but also rough-cloth bags, web-covered keyholder and dusty aspirator extenders. In a frame on the wall hangs a telephone number list of deep workstations decorated by decent pictures of women cut-out from magazines and there is a cat hole for a tomcat named "Mikeš" in the door. Edge of the world, tops of excavators and Středohoří ("Middle mountains") on the horizon.
