Alps by Werfen

The Alps always used to have a spefific status of "mountains in sight" when looking from Bohemia. They were both familiar and out of scale. Since time immemorial, people used to travel via them south, to Mediterranean, and back again to trade, study, visit historical sites and also loot a bit. Salt used to be obtained there and restless spirits from Šumava were banished there. Their tops may be seen from many places at Bohemia if the weather is favourable and they are closer to some it's southern regions than Prague is. We used to have closer relations with Alps that, for example, with Slovakian Tatra Mts. in a way.
