Camp Želva ("Turtle") at Brdy
One of many camps of Brdy hills is located in an abandoned quartzite quarry at northeastern side of the woods. Stone for pavements fo Prague was once obtained there, later were these quartzites shipped to Horní Bříza ("Upper Birch") for production of coke plant dinas and to Istebné for production of ferosilicium. But the exploitation ended soon, quarries have overgrown and now almost useless iron rope around their edges withered. A nice camp with an abri and a grave of ferret Žofiáš emerged there during following years.
