Mine Hamr I, shaft 13
Extenzive uranium mining entered northern Bohemia at second half of 1960s and distinctively changed landscape especially near Stráž pod Ralskem ("Guard under Ralsko"). Shafts of underground mines, refination plants, settling pits, web of chemical-mining drills and tubes and many other objects appeared there gradually. Mines were closed as result of state policy chnges at 1990s and redevelopment began in full scale. Some areals were reused in an other way, some buildings were demolished and other are slowly decaying while plundered by local non-ferrous-matel hunters. Shaft buildings and tower of shaft n.13 are still standing, but the pit itself is already filled up. Rusty mining carts lie abandoned on the parsely used parcel, everything is quiet and only recently repaired fences reveal that someone occassionally visits this place.
