Shaft tower "Defenders´ of Peace" by Horní Benešov

This steel beauty stands in an area of a former polymetallic mine in the infamous Bruntál (former Freudenthal) county, a forgotten piece of land belonging to Czech part of Silesia. Photographing it was not easy, local gatekeeper considered us to be imperialist spies, terrorists or some other suspisious scoundrels. But mines and, for example, train stations, are not considered to be strategically important objects as they were during communist era and zooming from nearby hill, close to a rail track removed because of mining dangers, proved to be sufficent. We arrived there at dusk and the entire construction looked really nice against the evening sky.
