One of many pretty iron ore mines of Barrandien
Barrandien iron ore deposits were opened by many mines of different sizes beginning with samll works and unsuccessful attempts and ending with large underground complexes. Hematite mine by Chlustina with it's two carefully driven levels, of which the lower one is filled up, and some more recent prospection works from 1950s is somewhere between these two poles. This place avoided liquidation and was saved thanks to interest of both local people and nonresident enthusiastics, today is closed and functions as a bat hibernation place. When I was searching for it at first time, it was quite dark and I did not find the entrance even when I was literally stumbling over it. I found it on the second time and last visit was during closing works. But Chlustina is worth a repeated visit.
